While they are not required for a vacuum, they allow you to collect the debris and dispose of it quickly and easily without having to breathe in dust that’s created when dumping a drum without a bag. How to Use a Dust Collection Bag

Open vacuum lid and insert bag inside. Ensure the bag is sealed around the inlet. After the bag is installed, close the vacuum lid and use vacuum as normal. When the bag is full, or after use, remove the bag from the vacuum and discard into the proper receptable.
